Environmental Impact Assessment
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process for anticipating the effects on the environment caused by a proposed development or project at a particular site. Where effects are unacceptable, design or other measures can be taken to avoid or reduce these to acceptable levels. The EIA Directive (2014/52/EU) requires that certain developments be assessed for likely environmental effects (commonly known as Environmental Impact Assessment) before planning permission can be granted. The projects which require EIA are listed in Annex I and Annex II of the EIA Directive as amended.
An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) is a report or statement of the effects, if any, which the proposed project, if carried out, would have on the environment. It is prepared by the developer to inform the EIA process. We can assist in the preparation of EIAR's and EIA Screening Reports in compliance with EPA Guidance.
